Unavoidable School Closures

St Greory's will keep unavoidable school closures to a minimal

Snow Closures

At certain times during the winter months, the media indicates that we could be faced with
heavy snowfall.
Please see below our procedures in the event that heavy snow fall
causes our school to close.

We would only close our school completely if there was a serious risk to the health and safety of our
children, parents and staff in trying to travel to and from school.

In the event of heavy snow fall and the school needing to close the following procedures will be
applied:
· Mr Yates, our site supervisor, will make an initial assessment of the access to the school.
· Mr Yates will inform Mr Bates if school is to close.
· Mrs Walsh will communicate via text message to all staff/parents if this decision is taken.
· Mrs Talbot will communicate via the website and also inform local radio stations.

In the event of heavy snow fall and the school does not need to close the following procedures will
be applied:
· Mr Yates, our site supervisor, will make an initial assessment of the access to the school.
· Mr Yates will inform Mr Bates that the school can remain open.
· Mrs Walsh will communicate via text message to all staff/parents if this decision is taken.
· Mrs Talbot will communicate via the website that the school is open.
· Mr Yates will clear a path to be able to access the school building safely.
· Mrs Talbot will keep the registration time open until 10.00am to allow children and parents extra
time to arrive at school.

It is imperative that Mrs Talbot/Miss O’Boyle have your most up-to-date mobile phone number. If you
change your phone number, you must inform school so we have a means of communication.
