As part of the PSHE curriculum, we have welcomed several visitors to our class this term.
First of all we had a visit from Lee Bamber. He has worked for the Royal Navy for a number of years and spoke to the children about the maths he needed for his work. He spoke about diving and explosive ordnance disposal, a subject that fascinated the children (and adults!).
In contrast, we had a visit from Ms Pook who is an HR manager with Kepak. She explained all the different job opportunities available within the food sector. Kepak has a factory locally which produces the 'Rustler' beefburgers that many of the children are familiar with.
Damien Strangwick, a surveyor who works for Ornance Survey, is responsible for updating the local maps. He gave us an insight into the work that is required to make even 'tiny' changes to our maps.
