At the beginning of Year 6, all the children prepared speeches to justify why they should be democratically elected to the positions of Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Headboy and Deputy Headgirl. The teachers and children from Upper Key Stage listen with great interest to the children's detailed and persuasive arguments. The children who wanted to be elected spoke with eloquence and skill before the democratic election process began.
Throughout the year the Young School Leaders are tasked with a variety of jobs and regularly meet with the Headteacher to share ideas about how to improve the school.
Their responsibilities involve welcoming visitors to our school as well as greeting all our children everyday as they enter school on the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 entrances. This is a responsibility the children really enjoy.
The children have a small budget to manage, approximately £250, aimed to increase their financial understanding. They are allowed to choose how to spend this money to help support their ideas over the course of the year.
